Second Unit / Spanish-Language Direction
Worked closely with the young cast through an extended casting and development process, then directed their Spanish-language performances on set.
Walmart+ | Hispanic Family Vignette The work was designed to feel culturally specific without ever feeling performative. Warm, familiar, and grounded in the rhythms of a real family, the story positioned Walmart+ not simply as another service, but as something that could give families a little more of what matters most: time together. For the Hispanic vignette, I came onto the project as a second unit and Spanish-language director, working closely with the young talent through nearly a month of casting and preparation before we ever reached the set. That time mattered. It gave me the opportunity to understand the kids, build trust with them, and help find performances that felt spontaneous rather than manufactured. Once we were shooting, my role was to protect that authenticity while directing the performances in Spanish and making sure the cultural details lived naturally inside the story. The goal was never to announce that this was a “Hispanic family.” It was to simply let them be a family: playful, imperfect, affectionate, loud, intimate, and recognizable. That approach became the heart of the vignette. Walmart+ existed in the background as an enabler of everyday life, while the family, their chemistry, and the small moments between them remained at the center. For me, the work was ultimately about representation through truth rather than representation through explanation.
